Façade & Architectural Lighting Design

RAMUS’ specialist architectural lighting designs are unlike any other, bringing the spectacular to every project.

Our Work

The team has produced a diverse range of façade and architectural lighting designs, from intimate illuminated installations at building entryways, to multi-level building façades that are interactive on an impressive scale.

Some examples of our large scale architectural illumination projects include:

Intersection

Situated adjacent to bustling Southern Cross Station in Melbourne’s CBD, Intersection at 1000 La Trobe represents the movement of people and cultures. This daily flow formed the inspiration for the piece.

Our Approach

Lighting can be powerful in enhancing and articulating a building or interior space. As specialist lighting design consultants  we integrate the lighting in such a way that the architecture becomes a creative canvas to express. RAMUS values collaboration and exploration as part of our process, working alongside, architects, builders and urban designers throughout the life of the project.

  • Understanding Stakeholders

We work out what the project is wanting to communicate - this could come from the history of the site, community or current stakeholders who have a vision for the building.
  • Concept Design

This is where we begin to creatively develop and visualise your project.
  • Community Engagement

We always seek a level of interaction and collaboration with the community to enhance and deepen the experience of the façade.
  • Design Development

The design is technically developed and detailed and content options are explored in readiness for content production and construction and installation.
  • Custom Fixtures

Due to the innovative nature of our designs often what we are envisioning isn't on the market so we work with manufacturers and invent bespoke fixtures.
  • Tender support

Our team includes construction specialists, so we can help with the tender process and supplier selection.
  • Construction Installation

Working with the builders, electricians and lighting and screen suppliers we ensure the quality of our designs are maintained during this phase.
  • Content

If the canvas is the façade, the content is the paint. Whether its high-resolution cinematic content, figurative, abstract or interactive we custom make content consistent with the creative narrative and vision of your project produced ready for testing on-site.
  • Programming

Is the final stage to bring the work to life. Our creative and technical team work on site to program the content onto the facade via our CORE control system. Our proprietary light and media management software enables remote programming and full automation.

“The first light installation of its kind, our reactive luminous skin interprets incoming weather data and translates it into beautiful digital visualisations.”
