This data-driven artwork interprets tide data captured in St Kilda and uses it to articulate a 24-hour animation of tidal rhythms. Throughout the day, the tide visually swells and dissipates, reflecting rhythms seen in the tidal and human movements. Synergy was inspired by the convergence of two distinct energies of freshwater and saltwater and the flood of people in the physical space.

This immersive artwork was designed for the digital collaborative meeting zone of  2 Southbank Boulevard in Melbourne. Our animator hand drew the tidal animation, which sits across two adjacent 5k resolution LED screens. The digital artwork is a response to the site-specific narrative of Freshwater Place.

Synergy sits in a new mixed-use development, which blurs the lines between living, co-working and entertainment. The building features open-plan work spaces, cafes, lounges and collaborative areas, to balance the needs of tenants looking for progressive places to collaborate and work.

Synergy is a data-driven digital artwork, which represents the coming together of two distinct tidal energies and the convergence of people in the physical space.
